Schweizer and Activ’Glass join forces for Solrif
Schweizer and Activ’Glass have entered into a strategic partnership for Solrif. Together, they are driving new developments around this in-roof photovoltaic mounting system to better meet current market demands. Customers benefit from several key improvements–including high-quality Swiss-made framing, optimized delivery times, and more efficient logistics.
Since January 1, 2025, the coloured SolarTerra versions from Activ’Glass have been framed directly at our facility in Hedingen, ensuring the highest quality. With its wide range of formats and dummy cuts, SolarTerra enables flexible installation—even for buildings with complex geometries.
Starting in April, the partners will launch a Solrif version featuring the latest back-contact cell technology. With its matte full-black design, this innovation sets new standards in both performance and aesthetics.
Gunnar Johansson, Head of Schweizer’s Solar Systems division, comments: “The Solrif system enjoys an excellent reputation as an integration solution. We aim to strengthen its commercial success by bringing it closer to the market with increasingly technological and innovative solutions, particularly those developed by Activ’Glass.”
Background information on SolarTerra
SolarTerra is a solution developed in Switzerland that aims to equip old buildings with solar technology while respecting their cultural heritage. It is a fully integrated system that replaces traditional roof tiles and generates electricity. SolarTerra uses Solrif, a patented in-roof photovoltaic system by Schweizer. The system provides weather protection and withstands heavy snow loads. The tile is equipped with highly efficient solar cells (>22.5%) to maximize power generation.
