The world’s largest industrial roof PV system realised with a mounting system from Schweizer
Hedingen, 19 June 2025 – In Denmark, the world’s largest PV roof system has been commissioned on the gigantic new logistics centre of the DSV logistics company – together with a solution from Ernst Schweizer AG. The efficient MSP-FR mounting system forms the supporting base of this pioneering system and emphasises the role of the Swiss family-owned company as a provider of leading solutions for greater efficiency in photovoltaics.
With around 78,000 solar modules installed on an area of over 300,000 square metres (the equivalent of around 42 football pitches), the project in Horsens, Denmark, is setting new standards on a global level. The installed capacity is an impressive 35 megawatts peak (MWp), and the anticipated annual electricity production is 33.15 gigawatt hours (GWh). In addition to fully covering its own requirements, this also means that the logistics centre can operate an additional 140 charging stations on site for electric vehicles. Annual CO₂ savings amount to around 5,300 tonnes – a significant contribution to DSV’s climate strategy.
Innovative mounting system for maximum efficiency
The Danish contractor SolarFuture ApS opted for a solution from Schweizer for the substructure. The MSP-FR east-west ballasted mounting system is used, providing an aerodynamically optimised solution that can be installed completely without penetrating the roof. The east-west orientation of the modules ensures even energy generation over the course of the day, increases the self-consumption rate and reduces the load on the power grid at peak times.
The advantages of the MSP-FR mounting system at a glance:
- Fewer and lightweight components
- Quick and easy installation thanks to partial pre-assembly, and fewer screws thanks to the ingenious click system
- High adaptability to different roof topographies
- Low load impact and optimum weight distribution
- Resource-saving use of aluminium, produced with around 75% less CO₂ emissions than are usual in the industry
- Lightning current carrying capacity for the highest safety requirements
A flagship project for the energy revolution
“This project demonstrates impressively how industrial roof surfaces can become the driving force behind the energy revolution,” says Gunnar Johansson, Head of the Solar Division at Ernst Schweizer AG. “We are proud to have been selected for this pioneering project and to have been able to make an important contribution to the realisation of this extraordinary installation with our MSP-FR mounting system. It sends a powerful signal of how roof surfaces can be used intelligently for the energy revolution.”
