AluTrax – the fall protection system that thinks for itself
The challenge of roof safety
Safety on the roof is essential when installing and maintaining photovoltaic systems. The legal basis is clear, as fall protection must be provided at a height of two metres or more. In addition, any area that is within two metres of an unsecured roof edge is considered to harbour a risk of falling.
Collective protection systems (e.g. scaffolding or temporary railings) are mandatory during assembly. However, permanent solutions such as rail or cable systems are mandatory for recurring work such as maintenance and servicing. This is where the AluTrax rail safety system from Schweizer plays a crucial role.
The Swiss solution: AluTrax
In collaboration with specialised partners, Schweizer has developed a rail system for fall protection that integrates seamlessly into the PV mounting system. This system, which is favoured by institutions such as SUVA, BG and AUVA, offers a simple, reliable and, above all, extremely advantageous solution for flat-roof PV systems. The greatest added value AluTrax contributes lies in optimisation of the workflow and ease of maintenance.
Maum safety thanks to restraint systemxim
- The risk of falling is excluded: If personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent falling is used correctly, a fall from the roof is ruled out with a restraint system.
- Free mobility and hands: As the runner travels with you, both hands remain free when moving around the modules.
- Close-up work on modules: The system allows close access to the modules and systems.
Optimised functionality and protection of the system
- No roof penetration: The system can be fixed without penetrating the roof, thus protecting the integrity of roof cladding.
- Protection of the cable connections: The lanyards (cables) need not necessarily be routed over the modules. This prevents them from being damaged by sharp module edges.
- Simple visual inspection: The system can be checked visually with ease and simplicity.
Simplified installation, inspection and refurbishment
- Uncomplicated and flexible installation: The system is characterised by its uncomplicated and easy assembly and is connected directly to the MSP PV installation system.
- Ease of maintenance: If the annual maintenance or inspection of the system is missed, the system can easily be overhauled, as it is not covered by insulation or roofing membranes.
- Easy to dismantle: If the roof or part of the roof needs to be renovated, the entire system, including fall protection, can be easily dismantled and reassembled.
