10 MW Solar Power Plant Relies on MSP
At the ALDI SUISSE distribution centre in Domdidier, Switzerland’s most powerful photovoltaic installation on a single building roof has been realised to date. Covering approximately 59,000 square metres of roof area, more than 21,700 solar modules with an installed capacity of 10 megawatt-peak (MWp) generate around 8 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of solar electricity each year.
For the mounting substructure, installation partner Helion Energy AG selected Schweizer’s MSP photovoltaic mounting system. This modular flat-roof solution is designed for rapid installation while offering the flexibility required to efficiently accommodate different roof conditions and technical requirements. Especially on projects of this scale, short installation times, well-organised logistics and precise planning are key factors for cost-effective implementation.
The quantities of materials involved also illustrate the project’s impressive scale. Schweizer supplied 270 Euro pallets containing more than 30,000 base profiles, over 30,000 supports, around 40,000 connection rails and nearly 100,000 screws. Domdidier therefore stands as an impressive reference project, demonstrating the performance and scalability of the MSP mounting system on the roofs of large industrial, commercial and logistics facilities.
